CEC Certification
As the largest state in the United States, California has more stringent requirements for energy efficiency. The California CEC Energy Commission has implemented the California Electric Energy Efficiency Regulation since 1976. This regulation is the only mandatory energy-saving regulation in the United States that can affect non-governmental consumption behavior, and has played an important role in reducing energy consumption. This regulation stipulates that electrical products must first meet the equipment energy efficiency regulations when they are sold in California, USA. This regulation stipulates the requirements of energy efficiency indicators, measurement methods and phased implementation plans for 58 types of electrical products. According to the requirements of this regulation, electrical products must be tested by a qualified laboratory according to the relevant regulations or standards of the United States, and can only be sold in California, the United States after they are proved to meet the requirements.
Necessity of CEC certification
CEC energy efficiency standards and energy efficiency labels have been proved to be the most cost-effective way to reduce energy consumption, which will bring huge environmental benefits and provide positive returns for consumers. The research results show that the formulation and effective implementation of new energy efficiency standards and energy labels can improve the energy efficiency level of products and consumers’ awareness of energy conservation. The significant reduction of emissions of these atmospheric pollutants can greatly alleviate the greenhouse effect, photochemical smog, acid rain and other environmental problems, and play an important role in improving environmental quality and improving people’s quality of life.
CEC certification test scope
The 58 categories of products sold in California, the United States, require CEC product energy efficiency certification, mainly for household appliances, power supplies, lamps (ballasts or energy-saving lamps). The sales of 58 types of electronic and electrical products in California, the United States, all require CEC energy efficiency certification, which is specifically divided into energy efficiency index requirements, measurement methods and phased implementation plans.
CEC California Energy Efficiency Certification Process
- The customer submits the application form;
- The customer signs the entrusted testing contract with our company;
- Send samples for testing, and prepare electrical schematic diagram, external/internal photos, oscillator circuit diagram, user manual nameplate identification, working principle description, etc. (depending on the product);
- After passing the test, our company will submit the application materials to the issuing authority authorized by CEC;
- Issue CEC certificate.
Information required for CEC certification
- Product name: provide the full name of the product;
- Product model: list the model, variety or classification number of all products to be tested in detail;
- The intended use of the product: for example, family, office, factory, coal mine, ship, etc;
- Parts list: list the parts, models (classification numbers), ratings and manufacturer’s names of the products in detail. For insulating materials, please provide the names of raw materials.
- Electrical performance: for electronic and electrical products, provide electrical schematic diagram (circuit diagram) and electrical performance table;
- Structure diagram: for most products, it is required to provide the structure diagram or explosion diagram of the product, ingredient list, etc;
- Product photos, instructions for use, safety, etc. or installation instructions.
CEC certification period and validity period
The product time in the conventional power supply is 1 week, and the battery charging system needs to be registered for 3 weeks. The validity period of CEC certificate is determined according to the product!
