
CSA Certification
CSA is the abbreviation of the Canadian Standards Association, which was founded in 1919 and is the first non-profit organization in Canada to formulate industrial standards; Electronic and electrical products sold in the North American market need to obtain safety certification. At present, CSA is the largest safety certification agency in Canada and one of the most famous safety certification agencies in the world. It can provide safety certification for all types of products in machinery, building materials, electrical appliances, computer equipment, office equipment, environmental protection, medical fire safety, sports and entertainment. CSA certification has provided certification services to thousands of manufacturers worldwide, Every year, hundreds of millions of products with CSA logo are sold in the North American market.
CSA certification process
- Fill in the preliminary application form and submit it to CSA together with the specifications and technical data of all relevant products (including all electrical components and plastic materials);
- CSA will determine the certification fee according to the specific situation of the product, and then notify the applicant company by fax;
- After confirmation by the applicant company, a formal application form and notice will be sent, which includes the following requirements:
(1) After the formal application form is signed, the authentication fee (RMB can be paid) will be transferred to the office by telegraphic transfer;
(2) Send the test template to the designated place according to the notice.
- The designated laboratory will conduct certification work on time;
- After the certification test is completed, a preliminary report will be sent to the applicant company, which is listed as follows:
(1) How to improve the product structure to meet the standard;
(2) Other materials to be used to complete the certification report;
(3) Please apply for the content of the company’s simplified certification record draft;
(4) Shipping marks required for CSA certification and methods of obtaining shipping marks;
(5) Factory testing required for the product.
- CSA will evaluate the applicant company’s response to item 5 above;
- At the same time, CSA will prepare a certification report for product production reference and tracking inspection;
- At this stage, under certain circumstances, CSA will go to the factory for initial factory evaluation, which is called IFE for short;
- Finally, CSA will issue a certificate of conformity together with the certification record, authorizing the applicant company to add the certification mark of CSA to other products;
- The applicant company shall sign a service agreement with CSA to indicate that both parties agree that CSA will conduct product tracking inspection in the factory. The applicant company shall pay an annual fee to maintain this agreement.
Information required for CSA certification
Copy of company data sheet and business license;
Product description (including but not limited to the following);
Product name, product model and product use;
In the parts list, please provide the name, model, rated value and manufacturer information of the product parts. If the parts have obtained CSA or UL certification, please indicate the file number of the parts. If a part has multiple suppliers, it can be provided together.
Product performance and specifications, such as size, rated voltage, current, frequency and power;
Structure diagram or explosion diagram: please indicate the name of each part in the structure diagram of the product, so as to correspond with the parts list one by one;
Provide circuit schematic diagram: PCB schematic diagram, product photos, operation instructions, safety precautions or installation instructions, etc.
CSA certification period and validity period
3-4 weeks
Factory inspection
Factory inspection and annual inspection are required.
