ErP Certification
To improve the environmental performance of energy-consuming products and control ecological environmental pollution. On October 31, 2009, the European Union officially issued the directive on ecological requirements for energy-related products.
ErP (Energy-Related Products) is one of the four major directives of European CE certification, and the rest are LVD (Safety Regulation Directive), EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive) and ROHS (Toxic Substances Directive). CE is a mandatory directive for importing products to European Union countries, while ErP has been enforced since September 1, 2013.
ErP certification test standard
The most striking change of the ERP Directive (2009/125/EC) is to expand the energy-consuming products in the original EUp Directive to energy-related products. However, other contents, such as the establishment method of implementation measures, have not changed significantly. The entry into force of the new directive (ERP directive) means that more products exported from China to the EU will be restricted by the directive. It reminds relevant export enterprises to start as soon as possible and fully prepare for the directive
EU regulation: All electronic and electrical products sold in Europe must meet the requirements of ERP testing or ERP certification (energy saving requirements of products related to energy consumption in Europe)
The new version of EU CE certification – ERP directive – 2009/125/EC officially issued:
Products tested by ERP include:
ERP certification requirements for energy-saving lamps: NO.244
ERP certification requirements for AV products and IT products: NO.1275
ERP certification requirements for TV products: NO.642
ERP certification requirements of set-top box: NO.107
ERP certification requirements for ballast and fluorescent lamp: NO.245
ERP certification requirements for external power supply, adapter and charger: NO.278

ErP authentication steps
- Compliance assessment
According to the requirements of the ErP Directive, the manufacturer can choose one of the two evaluation modes of “internal design control” (Annex IV of the ErP Directive) or “environmental management system” (Annex V of the ErP Directive) for evaluation.
- Organize and form technical documents (TDF)
• The manufacturer must form technical documents
• Technical documents shall include information on design, manufacturing, operation and final disposal of products
• Details will be clarified through the implementation measures of each product
- Issue Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
• Basic information
• Directives and standards to be followed
- Label CE mark
• Coordinate standard tests – EMC, LVD, etc
• Labeling CE mark
