Saa Certification

SAA is the abbreviation of Standards Association of Australia. For the sake of simplicity, it is customary to call Australia’s safety certification SAA certification. Electronic and electrical appliances and other products entering Australia (including Australia and New Zealand) must pass the certification and be marked with the certificate number before they can legally enter Australia for sale. Australia has standard mutual recognition agreements with New Zealand and both sides. All products certified by Australia can be successfully sold in the New Zealand market. Product safety testing in Australia is carried out by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) laboratory, a nationally recognized laboratory, or the CB member laboratory, and the test report is submitted to the certification acceptance authority in each state to apply for the certificate.

Application method for SAA certification

  1. Direct application;
  2. Transfer through CB report;
  3. At present, customers often use CB reports to transfer to SAA. The SAA test standard is basically consistent with IEC and EN standards, but there are small differences; Therefore, when testing, it is also necessary to write the Australian differences in the report, and pay special attention to the special requirements of the pins; Australian voltage single-phase 240V, three-phase 415V, frequency 50Hz;
  4. There are two main types of SAA marks: formal certification and standard marks. The formal certification is only responsible for the samples, while the standard marks need to be reviewed by each factory.

Coverage of SAA certified products

  1. There are 56 categories of compulsory certification, such as external power supply or charger, wires, plugs, some household appliances (60335-2-9, – 14, 15, – 23, – 80), lamps (60598-2-4), etc; Regulated electrical appliances must obtain the certificate of approval issued by the monitoring department, that is, SAA certification, and must be marked (the certificate number must be marked)
  2. Non-compulsive products: refer to products other than compulsory certification, such as commercial kitchen appliances; Although the certification of non-regulated products is not compulsory, its safety is the responsibility of the seller/manufacturer, who can apply for certification voluntarily. The monitoring department will issue a certificate of compliance for products that meet the requirements of the standard. Note: Some products in the mandatory catalog must be subject to SAA certification, while non-mandatory products are voluntary and can be done or not; However, the process and data of mandatory and non-mandatory product SAA are the same.

Materials to be submitted for SAA certification

  1. SAA certification application form;
  2. Product instructions;
  3. Product nameplate;
  4. Provide effective test report (CB report or Australian test report);

Note: SAA certificate of product plug (mainly for products with plug) shall be provided when the report is submitted to Australia for review, otherwise it will not be handled. SAA certificate of important components in the product, like lamps, shall be provided with SAA certificate of transformer in the lamp, otherwise the Australian review data will not pass.

SAA certification application process

  1. The customer sends the sample, and our company conducts the test and issues the safety regulation report.
  2. The customer submits the application form for Australian safety regulations (our company provides a blank application form);
  3. Our company submits the application form and safety test report to the Australian institution and makes payment;
  4. Audit report of Australian safety regulatory agency;
  5. The certificate shall be issued after it is approved to be OK;

Note: If the customer can provide the qualified test report of the product, such as CB, TUV, GS, etc., the Australian difference report of the product issued by ATS can also be used to transfer the SAA certificate.

10-15 working days, SAA certificate is valid for 5 years, without factory review and annual fee
