Saber Certification
Many of SASO standards are based on the safety standards of relevant international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia has added some unique items to the standards according to its own civil and industrial voltage, geographical and climatic environment, national and religious customs, etc; In order to protect consumers, SASO standards are not only applicable to products imported from abroad, but also applicable to products produced in Saudi Arabia.
The importance of SASO certification
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Saudi Arabia and SASO require that all products covered by SASO certification standards have SASO certification certificates when entering Saudi customs; Products without SASO certificate will be refused entry by Saudi port customs.
When products are exported to Saudi Arabia, the SASO certification certificate shall be issued when the goods enter the customs, and the technical personnel of Saudi Arabian Standards Organization will check the certificate. If the SASO certificate cannot be issued, the products will be refused to enter the country or sampled to the laboratory of Saudi Arabian Ministry of Industry and Commerce or Saudi Arabian Standards Organization for testing. If the test is not qualified, the products will be refused to enter the country, and all costs will be borne by the export enterprises.
SASO approved type
1、 Pre-shipment Compliance Verification
This method is most suitable for exporters or manufacturers with very few shipments. Before each shipment, it is necessary to apply for pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and pre-shipment test (PST). CoC certificate can be obtained if both are qualified.
2、 Product Registration
This method is suitable for the vast majority of customers. Its advantage is that although each shipment inspection (PSI) is necessary, each shipment does not need to undergo pre-shipment test (PST). The customer submits a declaration of compliance and provides a test report that conforms to the import country and relevant international or domestic standards, and states that
If the product has met the basic requirements and national differences of the importing country, it can obtain the registration qualification certificate Statement for Registration (SfR).
3、 Type Approval Licensing
This method can not only save the inspection fee or test fee before each shipment, simplify the repeated application procedure, but also ensure the delivery time. Therefore, it is favored by some large companies that pay attention to quality and reputation because of frequent or large shipments. Exporters or manufacturers’ products are only fully qualified for import and export
The State for License (SfL) certificate can be obtained only when the exporting country enforces the standard. The certificate is valid for one year, and can be renewed after submitting the updated factory inspection report and paying the annual fee and being reviewed by RLC before expiration. The products with SfL certificate no longer need to undergo pre-shipment inspection (PSI) for each batch of goods, but reduce to a few sampling inspections a year (generally 2-3 times per year, depending on the product condition).
The test shall be conducted according to the SASO/PAI standard+national differences, and the requirements of SASO/PAI standard shall be considered separately. There are large differences in some clauses. The rated voltage of Saudi Arabia is 220V, 50/60Hz (with BS plug) or 127V, 60Hz (with UL plug) (another prototype shall be provided for testing); Kuwait voltage is 240V, 50Hz (with BS plug).
Factory inspection is required for type approval
For electrical products exported to Saudi Arabia, the rated frequency marked on the product must include 60Hz;
For air conditioners exported to Saudi Arabia, the user manual must be in Arabic and English, audio and video products, and the user manual must be in Arabic;
The original safety regulations and EMC report must be the report issued by the recognized laboratory within 2-3 years.
